Amazing and caught on film
So much for a pleasant day of whale watching!!
A 33-foot southern right whale jumped out of the water off Cape Town, South Africa,
and landed on a couple's sailboat, snapping the mast. This species of whale
navigates by sound - and has poor eyesight - and may have simply not heard the
sailboat, which had its motor off. Paloma Werner and her partner Ralph first saw
the whale in the distance. They suddenly saw it submerge about 100 feet away.
They say "Next thing you know, there's a 40-ton whale on the deck of the boat.
Then the whale slid down the side of the boat and back into the water." They did
a damage check and found the boat wasn't taking on water so they started the engine
and headed for shore. They saw the whale reappear further away.
The Oneonta Farmers' Market is held every Saturday from 9:00 am until 2:00 and every Tuesday from 10am to 2pm at Oneonta’s Main Street Plaza under the white canopies right next to Key Bank. It's rain or shine! 607-437-0158 or CLICK HEREto find out more.
